Third and last child born to Dr. and Mrs AK Abide. Mom, a Tennessee beauty queen has a natural eye for design and gift for entertaining.

July 1975

Born in Atlanta, GA to Grant and Carol Curtis. Enter a long line of elegant, chic (and audacious) women.

early 1980s

First trip to NYC – a style defining moment – had haircut by Vidal Sassoon and bought a Gucci purse. When I returned to school in Mississippi, everyone wondered who was that new boy?


Only 4th grader in attendance at Like a Virgin tour. Too naïve to understand subtext, but cemented Madonna as first official style icon.

Nov 1986

Lost Dad. (Sarah and Adele are convinced that their fathers have a hand in orchestrating their success).


Twin Peaks airs. Profound and lasting effect on personal style and taste. Started work at mom’s shop The Country French Connection. Began love of antiques and design history.


Freshman year at RISD. Planned to study painting but agree to study fashion design because mom thinks it’s more practical. Created bustier inspired by Madonna.


Family relocates to the 7th in Paris. Karl Lagerfeld is our neighbor. Interned at Mulberry. Spent every free moment at the Louvre or Musee d’Orsay, knew les puces like the back of my hand and began to dream in French.

Winter 1994

Interned with Mary McFadden. Discovered trupunto stitching and everything Egyptian.


College: instant Art History major. Spent summer Euro-railing. Enrolled in every film and photography class available at Emory University. Studied abroad with 5 months traveling through Southeast Asia and China.


Showed eponymous Fall Line at NYC Fashion Week. Received positive reviews from WWD. Highlight: Milla Jovovich wore a pair of my green leather pants in December’s Allure.

May 1999

Arrive NYC with future husband. Move into a 400 sq foot apartment on Bleecker St.

June 2000

Married photographer Todd Norwood!!! a fellow Georgia native in a small ceremony at family’s home.

October 2000

Married Josh Pulver – an architect I met at RISD – during the height of Cotton Season in the Mississippi Delta.

May 2002

Graduated NYC’s School of Visual Arts with an MFA from the Photography and Related Media department. First Chelsea group show at White Box Gallery.

Fall 2002

Launched AA ARts, art consulting for private clients. Bought everything from Nina Bovasso to Pablo Picasso.

September 2003

Lost father to cancer. (Sarah and Adele are convinced that their fathers have a hand in orchestrating their success.)


Traveled throughout Europe visiting furniture fairs with Janice Feldman, the outdoor-tastemaker and owner of Janus et Cie and probably the most influential person I’ve worked with. Highlights: Maison et Objet and dining out with Janice and Andre Putman in Paris.

March 2007

First ad campaign as a NYC fashion stylist. Worked as a stylist from 2003-2010.

August 2008

Sell our NYC digs. Move to our country house for a perfect slow life.

Feb 2008

Mom’s home in Atlanta, GA published in House Beautiful, a collaborative effort and labor of love!




October 2009

Welcomed son Archer Finch!

Feb 2010

After busy years making wonderful memories with 2 young kids, we welcome a third! Start to suspect there might be more to life than making homemade pizza dough and foraging for ramps in the back yard.

July 2010

Move from Williamsburg, Brooklyn to the tiny no stoplight village of Athens, NY. Magical summers of bbqs, blueberry pies, and flotillas on the Hudson.

May 2011

Meet Sarah. Instant friendship connected by Southern roots, love of fashion, design and all things fine. Many cups of coffee and play dates ensue.

Fall 2011

Realize it’s time to start educating the children. Move to Rhinebeck.

July 2012

Sarah and Adele show personal artwork at opening in Sarah’s carriage house.

May 2012

Collaborate with Sarah to style, rebrand and nationally launch an outdoor furniture line for Amalfi Living.

Nov 2012

Sarah’s Athens, NY home featured in Country Living.




April 2013

Established representation at 12 national showrooms for Amalfi Living.

July 2013

Moved to Rhinebeck. Lived in the basement for 3 months while we worked on the house!
